Now, I tend to use YouTube for research but then I get distracted and forget why I'm on there in the first place! And I have videos like The Science of Orgasms to blame. I can't remember what I was researching before I landed to this video but it's been very informative, lol. Who knew science could be so sexy, indeed! Happy Friday ;)

Happy hump day! Today I introduce a second installment of the "What D'ya Know" segment and what I wanted to discuss Polydactyl cats, or better known as "Hemingway Cats". These are basically cats that have more then the typical 18 digits (5 on each front paw and 4 on the back) and they get the nickname because the famous writer was such a fan of them. He was given one as a gift and after his death, his home in Key West, FL was turned into a home and museum for the decedents of his polys. His home is now occupied by 40-50 of them. Mine apartment happen to be occupied by one: my kitty Duchess! If you can't tell from the pictures on my site , she has 6 digits on each front paw. When I adopted her from the ASCPA, they told me polys like her were considered lucky so I was sold! So I'm starting something new: a monthly "What D'ya Know" segment that will feature (I hope) interesting topics that everyone just knows about but not really the why . We know yawning is contagious but why? We know in Jeopardy, they always start with "What is..." but why? We know cat's have whiskers, by why (lol, true story--a friend asked me why my cat's had such long whiskers and I thought that's a good question...). But because of my random mind--and nosey nature--I like to know a little of a lot, to be able to satisfy my "well, why is that?" questions. And I thought I'd share my findings. But be warned, I don't claim to be an expertise in any of this! Happy Monday all! I know. It's Monday. And not so happy. But it can't be escaped so here's a joke to kickoff the week. Enjoy! --- Max and Brian were at a bar celebrating Brian's recent promotion. They'd had quite a few drinks, and Max began to insult Brian. He yelled, "Brian, I slept with your mother!" The room fell silent, and everyone stared at them. Lewis told his five-year-old daughter, Stella, to say her prayers before she went to sleep. She said, "God bless Mommy, Daddy, and Grandma. And goodbye, Grandpa." Before he could ask her why she said goodbye to her grandfather, Stella was asleep. The next day, Grandpa died. That night as Stella dozed off, Lewis heard her say, "God bless Mommy and Daddy. And goodbye, Grandma." The next day, Grandma died. That night as she drifted off, he heard Stella say, "God bless Mommy and goodbye Daddy." The next day at work, Lewis was such a nervous wreck that he didn't get out of his chair until midnight. When he got home, he told his wife, "I'm fine now, but I just had the worst day of my life!" Looking for something quick and simple to cook this weekend? Here's a recipe of my famous (at least famous with my family and friends :) Sweet & Spicy Chili . It's super easy and very delicious so give it try and let me know what you think! **Disclaimer: measurements are my best estimations since I don't usually use measurements when I make my chili so feel free to adjust depending on your tastes! Ingredients: 1 lb - lean ground beef (or turkey) 2.5 tbsp - chili powder (separated) 1/2 tsp - salt and pepper 1 tbsp - olive oil 1tbsp - chopped garlic 1 - 15oz can of red kidney beans 1 - medium can of diced tomatoes 1 - small can of tomato sauce 1 tbsp - brown sugar (I use Splenda blend) 1 - onion, diced 1 - green, red, or yellow bell pepper (I use a half of all three!), diced Preparation: Season the ground meat with 1/2 tbsp of chili powder and salt and pepper Heat oil in a dutch pot on medium and add in garlic, stirring until brown P...
