Remembering Black History

Everyone has a past and history worth remembering... Black History month is a time for recollection and appreciation. Though one month is never enough to absorb such an intricate past, it's a still an important time for us to pause and take a moment to remember our history. Every Friday this month, I'll be celebrating Black History through the power of spoken word. Poetry has always had a special place in my heart and I wanted to use it to celebrate our past. "I re-read my history and I remembered me." -"White" performed by Nafessa Monroe   (If you are having trouble viewing this video via Explorer, please try another browser.)

Author Interview: Deborah Blumenthal

Today, I'm excited to feature my first author interview and today I'm speaking with author and journalist, Deborah Blumenthal. Please welcome her as she shares a little about herself, her writing, and something a little crazy she's done. =) So, without further ado... If you couldn’t be an author, what would your ideal career be? Probably something in the medical field. I’m fascinated with health and when I was in primary school, I thought about being a pathologist. Are you an early bird or a night owl? Definitely an early bird. Which TV shows can you absolutely not miss every week? I was addicted to The Newsroom, and Homeland, but they're now finished for the season. I was also a huge fan of In Treatment. Name your favorite: Dessert, City, Season, Actor, Actress, Band/Singer, Color, Cuisine. Red velvet cake, New York City (then Venice), fall, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, (who died far too young, in recent days), Adele, green, Italian cuisine. How long h

And things are about to get sinful... This February, I'll be powering away on my next series, The Queen Quartette. What's a quartette ? It's a composition for four voices. A set of four things that belong together and are used as such. In this series, I introduce four women, with their own distinct personalities and stories, told in parallel of each other, who are connected by the men who can't get enough of them. It's set in Vegas, around the mythical resort and casino, Royal Courts, and the heat between the "Queens" and the men who love them are singeing the pages! This series is coming along beautifully and I can't wait to have my cover(s) reveal for this project, which is slated to be sometime this month. Stay tuned...
