Image
There's only one more week left before the official release of Daughters of a Nation!  My anthology sisters and I are excited to be sharing this anthology with the world and I'm especially thrilled to be sharing a bit about my story in the collection... IN THE MORNING SUN With the election of 1868 underway, Madeline Asher’s mission is clear: educate and enlist the freedmen of Nebraska to vote. After losing the man she loves to war—and a small piece of herself along the way—Madeline is determined to reclaim her life by making a difference in others. But when Union veteran James Blakemore III comes back into her life, Madeline must choose between a future she’s always wanted and the chance to shape a greater nation. (Photographs by William C Withers and Mathew Brady) For those of you who are familiar with my story AMAZING GRACE in our last anthology, The Brightest Day , you'll remember Madeline Asher as the mail-order bride being sent to Montana and who wa...

The Brightest Day: An Inside Look into "Amazing Grace"

Image
It's 1866. The war is over. Slavery has ended. But the story is just getting started... In 1 week, THE BRIGHTEST DAY will be released! In this historical romance anthology, which features my historical novella,  Amazing Grace , Gracie Shaw can't deny her desire for former Confederate soldier Logan Finley. She is torn between fulling her promise or following her heart and he is eager to start a new life--with her. Their relationship was inspired by real life interracial couple Albert and Lucy Parsons . Lucy, a former slave married Albert, a former Confederate soldier, during the time of Reconstruction and together they spoke out against the continued injustices of newly freed slaves, women suffrage, and poor laborers. In Amazing Grace , both Gracie and Logan are boarded on a train headed west and below is an excerpt where Gracie finally meets the mysterious man watching her sing the day before: ~~~ Gracie “Excuse us, sir.” When the man didn’t acknowledge them,...

"The Brightest Day" Coming Soon!

Image
We're about a month away from the release of THE BRIGHTEST DAY, my upcoming MC/IR historical romance anthology with authors Kianna Alexander, Alyssa Cole, and Piper Huguley--and from the stories I beta-read by my fellow co-authors, I can assure you this anthology is going to be a real treat! Though each story is written in different time periods, each of the heroines share inner strength yet a hidden fragility that makes them unique to their time and the right kind of woman for their heroes. Let's see if I can sum up each novella in one long sentence... In my novella, Amazing Grace , Gracie is torn between fulling her promise or following her heart; in Drifting to You , Rosie finds love and healing in the arms of her sexy suitor; Missy, in A Sweet Way to Freedom , teaches her former lover--and the father of her unborn child--just what it means to love and be loved; and Sofie, in Let It Shine , set out to make a difference and find love and redemption along the way. Each ...
